Island Peak (Imja Tse) Expedition (6,189m)
CLASSIC GLACIATED HIMALAYAN SUMMIT IN THE HEART OF KHUMBU
Island Peak (6,189m / 20,305 ft), known locally as Imja Tse, is the most celebrated alpine climbing peak in Nepal. Located in the upper Imja Valley surrounded by the sheer south face of Lhotse (8,516m) and the towering monolith of Ama Dablam (6,812m), Island Peak provides an exhilarating alpine mountaineering challenge. The expedition begins with the world-famous trek through Sagarmatha National Park, passing Sherpa cultural hubs like Namche Bazaar, the historic Tengboche Monastery, and Dingboche. This ensures exceptional physiological acclimatization before reaching Island Peak Base Camp (5,200m). Summit night starts at 01:00 AM from Base Camp or High Camp (5,600m). Climbers negotiate rocky gullies to 'Crampon Point', step onto the glaciated icefield, navigate crevasses using ladders and fixed lines, and ascend the iconic 100-meter 45°-50° headwall using mechanical ascenders (jumars). The final razor-sharp snow crest leads straight to the summit with front-row vistas of Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and Baruntse.

Summit-Day Decision System
Reaching the summit is secondary to returning safely to basecamp. Our expedition leaders operate under clear, non-negotiable safety criteria:
Regardless of proximity to the summit, any team that has not reached the top by 10:00 AM must reverse direction immediately before afternoon snow softens or summit storms develop.
Guides monitor coordination, cognitive alertness, and breathing. Anyone exhibiting AMS, ataxia, or severe exhaustion is turned around with an assigned guide.
If summit day faces high winds, heavy snow, or zero visibility, the attempt is called off and rescheduled to the reserve buffer day if mountain weather permits.
